On June 29, Ding Rongjun, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering stated at International New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation Ecology Congress that the sales of new energy vehicles in the global market in 2022 amounted to 10.824 million units, with a penetration rate of 14 percent, while the sales of NEV in China totaled 6.88 million units, with the penetration rate of 25 percent, which far exceeding the average level in the global market.
Mr. Ding forecasted that the sales of NEV in the global market will exceed 25 million units in 2025, with the penetration rate standing at 20 percent, while in China the sales of NEV will reach 15 million units, with a penetration rate of 35 percent, signaling China will enter the new energy era comprehensively.
