SAIL to increase iron ore output
The Indian steel producer Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) is planning to make further investment in order to increase iron ore output of its plants, namely Durgapur, Bokaro, Rourkela and Bhilahi. SAIL's raw material division (RMD) is set to increase the iron ore output to 13.6 million tons this year against 11.9 million tons recorded last year. This tonnage will only support Durgapur, Bokaro and Rourkela, located in the eastern region. Bhilai plant which has its own mines to meet the demand, needs another 7.8 milllion tons of iron ore. With this 2 million tons of additional iron ore, the four integrated plants are planning to be successful in their high production targets this year.
