Finland-based steelmaker Ruukki has announced that it will introduce a new kind of steel sandwich panel which is both reusable and recyclable in the construction market.

Ruukki stated that this new panel significantly reduces the use of non-renewable raw materials and the lifecycle costs are low since the panel can be reused in other buildings. Recycling also prevents extra costs in waste processing, the company said.

Life panel, another energy-efficient solution of Ruukki, is a prefabricated sandwich panel consisting of an insulation layer between two color-coated steel sheets. The panels are used in exterior walls in their main applications: industrial, commercial and logistics buildings. The steel sheets are also 100 percent recyclable and can be used as raw materials in Ruuki's production process.
