Russia's stainless steel exports down 72.4 percent in January-April

Russian exports of stainless steel products in the January-April period this year decreased by 72.4 percent year on year to 1,082 mt, according to Russia-based SpetsStal Association.
 
In particular, stainless billet exports decreased by 99.2 percent, stainless flat steel exports decreased by 42.0 percent, seamless stainless pipe exports decreased by 78.2 percent, long stainless steel exports decreased by 80.6 percent, while stainless steel wire exports went down by 94.4 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
 
According to the SpetsStal, the worsening relations with Ukraine negatively affected stainless steel exports from Russia. Besides, during the given period Russian stainless steel production decreased by six percent to 24,094 mt, with output of stainless flat products down 1.1 percent and stainless long product output decreasing by 8.6 percent, all year on year.
