The Russian Steel Association (Russian Steel) has offered a free trade zone between Russia and Turkey at the meeting between the Russian and Turkish heads of state held on April 8, according to local media sources.

Metalloinvest CEO Andrei Varichev who was present at the meeting asked for the safeguard investigation launched by Turkey to be stopped and underlined the importance of a free trade zone.

Russian Steel suggested a “preferential trade agreement” that would allow for product exclusions to protect the interests of industries that do not support the liberalization of access of Turkish products to the Russian market.
