The first Russian marine gas pipeline, the Dzhubga-Lazarevskoye-Sochi pipeline, came on stream on June 6. The length of the gas pipeline is 171.6 km, with 90 percent of the route underwater. The gas pipeline runs under the Black Sea along the coastal strip at a distance of approximately 4.5 km from the coast. The diameter of the pipeline is 530 mm and it will annually transmit about 3.8 billion cubic meters of gas.
All pipes for the gas pipeline were produced by Russia's Vyksa Steel Works, subsidiary of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), and are capable of withstanding pressures of up to 9.8 MPa. OMK delivered a total of 49,951 mt of steel pipes for the Dzhubga-Lazarevskoye-Sochi gas pipeline.
