Russia ups steel products output in January

Russia's steel products output rose 6.4% year-on-year to 4.7 million tons in January 2005, data released from Russia's Federal State Statistics Service show. Sheet production totaled 1.96 million tons in January, up 1.5% year-on-year. This tonnage includes 1.32 million tons of hot rolled sheet and 640'000 tons of cold rolled sheet. Sections and bars output grew 12.4% to 2.68 million tons, while pig iron production rose 2% to 4.32 million tons.
