Russia’s economic development minister Maxim Oreshkin has stated that Russia has decided to impose additional import duties on certain products from the United States in response to the US Section 232 tariffs on steel and aluminum products, according to media reports.

Mr. Oreshkin stated that Russia will impose retaliatory measures against imports from the US in line with the rules of the World Trade Organization as long as the US continues to impose additional tariffs on steel and aluminum imports. The duties will be applied only to the products that have alternatives in the Russian market, according to Mr. Oreshkin.

The economic development minister said that the final list of the products subject to the duties will be announced in the near future.
