Russia exports 4.34 million mt of scrap in January-October 2018

According to preliminary customs data, Russia’s ferrous scrap exports totaled 4.34 million mt in the January to October 2018 period.

From the preliminary customs data for the 10-month period, Russia exported 2.07 million mt (48 percent) to Turkey, 0.81 million mt (19 percent) to Belarus, 0.78 million mt (18 percent) to South Korea, 0.10 million mt (2 percent) to Greece, 0.08 million mt (2 percent) to Spain, 0.07 million mt (2 percent) to Egypt, and 0.43 million mt (10 percent) to other destinations including Vietnam.

Russia exported 4.98 million mt of scrap in 2017. The monthly average scrap exports in 2017 were 0.42 million mt while slightly higher at 0.43 million mt in 2018 to-date.
