Russia considers dropping Ukraine import duties

According to reports from the industry, the Russian Ministry of Economic Development and Trade has the intention to eliminate the import duties of rebar from Ukraine and galvanised sheets from Ukraine and Kazakhstan. The Russian producers are not happy with such intention as they believe that the current 21% import duty in force since July, is set to protect the Russian industry. It is only four months of application of these measures and now the government suggests to go for a comprehensive agreement with Ukraine. It appears that the Russian steelmakers are not that enthusiastic about going into such agreement for the time being.
