Research investment for a more competitive EU steel industry

European Commission plans to invest €43 million for the research to be carried out to find ways to make the steel industry in the European Community more competitive. For this purpose a technology platform is scheduled to be established in the second quarter of next year where the representatives of the EU steel industry will gather information and resources and set up a strategic agenda. According to officials, this will serve to lift the EU steel industry to a better and more competitive position in international markets, giving a clearer vision and common strategy for the producers in the industry.
