Real estate investments in China up 9.5 percent in 2018

In 2018, total real estate investments in China amounted to RMB 12.0264 trillion ($1.76 trillion), up 9.5 percent year on year, with this growth rate down 0.2 percentage points compared to that recorded in the January-November period last year, as announced by China's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

Investments in residential dwellings in China in 2018 amounted to RMB 8.5192 trillion ($1.24 trillion), rising by 13.4 percent year on year, accounting for 70.8 percent of total real estate investments in the country during the given period.

In 2018, new commercial real estate sold in China covered a total area of 1.71654 billion m2, up 1.3 percent on year-on-year basis. The total area covered by new residential buildings sold in China in the given period increased by 2.2 percent, the total area covered by new office buildings sold decreased by 8.3 percent, while the total area of new commercial business space sold during the given period was down 6.8 percent, all year on year.
