PPI for Turkish metal industry declines 2.11 percent in May over April

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in May this year the producer price index (PPI) for Turkish industry in general decreased by 1.15 percent over April and was up 9.21 percent year on year, while an average rise of 3.5 percent was registered for the latest twelve months.
 
In May, the PPI for the domestic basic metal industry fell by 2.11 percent month on month and was up 23.58 percent compared to May 2009. Meanwhile, the average decrease in the latest twelve months was 9.28 percent.
 
On the other hand, during the given month, the PPI for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, slightly increased by 0.41 percent over the previous month and was up 2.09 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the sector in question, an average decrease of 1.19 percent in the PPI index was registered in the latest twelve months.
