PPI for Turkey’s basic metal industry down 17.78 percent in October

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in October this year, the producer price index (PPI) for Turkish industry in general increased by 0.28 percent over September and was up 0.19 percent year on year, while an average rise of 2.2 percent was registered for the latest twelve months.

In October, the PPI for the domestic basic metal industry decreased 2.41 percent month on month and was down 17.78 percent compared to October 2008. Meanwhile, the average decrease in the latest twelve months was 18.72 percent.

On the other hand, during the given month, the PPI for domestic manufacture of metal products, except machinery, rose by 0.18 percent over the previous month and was up 0.68 percent year on year. Meanwhile, in the sector in question, an average increase of 7.3 percent in the PPI index was registered in the latest twelve months.
