South Korean steelmaker POSCO announced on April 8 its plans to open a new production line for car sheets in a bid to secure supply capacity for steadily rising demand for galvanized steel sheets.

The steelmaker broke ground on April 2 for its seventh facility for continuous galvanizing production in its Gwang-yang Works in South Korea. The KRW 300 billion-worth facility, with an annual capacity of 500,000 mt, is planned to be completed by March 31, 2012.

The seventh continuous galvanizing line plant will be specialized for galvanealed products and carbon steel sheets coated with zinc on both sides.
