Peruvian iron ore production up nearly 10 percent in H1

Peruvian iron ore production in the first half (H1) of the year reached 5 million mt, 9.8 percent up, year-on-year, the nation’s mining ministry said this week.

Most of iron ore production in H1, about 4.8 million mt, came from Peru’s major iron ore producer Shougang Hierro Peru. Minera Shouxin Peru SA produced an additional 203,167 mt in H1.

As for June, Peruvian iron ore production dropped nearly 30 percent, year-on-year, to 615,830 mt, down from 805,556 mt in June 2017. Shougang Hierro Peru produced 567,428 mt of iron ore in June this year, all of which from its CPS 1 facility.
