Peruvian mining company Ferrobamba has signed a cooperation agreement with Italian-based Tenova to develop its iron ore mine in the Peruvian region of Aymaraes, Tenova announced on Wednesday.

Tenova HYL Micro Module will oversee the technological design and provide equipment to develop and build a 500,000 mt/year pellet production plant as well as a 250,000 mt/year DRI high carbon plant.

"The Tenova HYL Micro Module will allow our company to add significant value to our iron ore deposit in Aymaraes, producing high carbon DRI with the proven ZR (zero reformer) technology used since 2010 in the Emirate steel," the CEO for the Peruvian company, Alfonso Navarro, said, adding the partnership will allow Ferrobamba to "produce a premium quality DRI that is not currently available in the region."
