Peru sees decline in February CPI

The Peruvian government disclosed that the country's consumer price index (CPI) fell 0.23% in February 2005. Declines in the price of food, rent, transportation and communications positively affected the CPI's decrease. Food and drink prices, which account for nearly half of the CPI, dropped 0.37% in February. The cost of rent, transportation and communications fell 0.33% and 0.27% respectively. The government expects 2.5% inflation for 2005.
