Orbis Steel Index: Scrap markets switch to sideways

In the week from August 1 to August 7, the slow movement seen in the steel markets in the previous week continued. In the week in question, the Turkish scrap index and Turkish HDG index moved sideways.
 
Two index values in the Orbis Steel Index (OSI) which showed an increase in the given week were the Turkish HRC index and the Black Sea HRC index.
 
As per the Orbis Steel Index data, the index movements in the week in question as per product are as follows:
 
Turkish Scrap Index has switched to sideways movement after three weeks of increase. The index value remains at 193.79.
 
US (East Coast) HMS I/II Scrap Export Index has shown no changes compared to the previous week. The index value remains at 204.71.
 
Turkish Rebar Index started to decrease after three weeks of increase. The index value dropped by 1.12 percent to 176.93.
 
Turkish HRC Index started to increase after moving sideways for two weeks. The index value increased by 0.65 percent to 125.2.
 
Black Sea HRC Export Index has increased by 0.17 percent week on week to 131.75.
 
Turkish HDG Index moved sideways this week, with the index value remaining at 118.61.
 
Turkish CRC Index decreased by 1.11 percent compared to the previous week, declining to 122.6.

Turkish Scrap Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of domestic ferrous scrap purchased weekly by Turkish steel mills, and imported HMS 80/20 CFR Turkey.
 
Turkish Rebar Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of commercial quality deformed steel reinforcing bars produced and sold by Turkish mills and subsequently merchants, both in the domestic market on ex-warehouse basis and for export on FOB Turkey basis.
 
Turkish HRC Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of commercial quality HRC produced or imported, and then sold by Turkish mills on ex-warehouse basis.
