Scrap continues to decline on Orbis Steel Index

In the week from October 1 to October 7, on the Orbis Steel Index the scrap indexes continued to decline. In the given week, the Turkish rebar index increased following weeks of downward movement. The Black Sea HRC export index has not shown any change compared to the previous week, while the Turkish flat rolled product indexes moved downwards.

As per the Orbis Steel Index data, the index movements in the week from October 1 to October 7 as per product are as follows:

Turkish Scrap Index decreased by 2.28 percent to 149.26 compared to the previous week.

US (East Coast) HMS I/II Scrap Export Index continued to decrease in the given week. The index value fell 0.75 percent week on week to 155.29.

Turkish Rebar Index moved upwards in the week in question. The index value increased by 0.72 percent to 143.27 compared to the previous week.

Turkish HRC Index decreased by 1.16 percent to 103.66 compared to the previous week.

Black Sea HRC Export Index has not shown any changes compared to the previous week. The index value stayed at 99.53.

Turkish HDG Index started to decline in the given week. The index value dropped 1.31 percent week on week to 95.27.

Turkish CRC Index moved downwards in the week in question. The index value decreased by 0.33 percent to 101.71.

Turkish Scrap Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of domestic ferrous scrap purchased weekly by Turkish steel mills, and imported HMS 80/20 CFR Turkey.

Turkish Rebar Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of commercial quality deformed steel reinforcing bars produced and sold by Turkish mills and subsequently merchants, both in the domestic market on ex-warehouse basis and for export on FOB Turkey basis.

Turkish HRC Index: Based on the weighted average of prices published by SteelOrbis of commercial quality HRC produced or imported, and then sold by Turkish mills on ex-warehouse basis.
