The Russian steel and pipe producer United Metallurgical Company (OMK) has announced that in January-February this year its Novgorod-based pipe producing subsidiary Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) saw a 4.3 percent year-on-year decrease in its steel pipe production to 300,000 mt, of which 185,000 mt were large diameter (LD) steel pipes - down about 14 percent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, in February this year, Vyksa decreased its steel pipe output by nine percent year on year from 169,481 mt to 154,000 mt, with its large diameter steel pipe production amounting to 92,000 mt - down 21.6 percent compared to February last year.
On the other hand, during the first two months of 2011, Vyksa increased its railway wheel output by 65 percent year on year to 130,100 wheels, of which 63,700 wheels were produced in February - up 23.6 percent year on year.
