OECD employment rises to 68.3 percent in Q2

The employment rate of the 34 Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) member countries was up 0.1 percentage point quarter on quarter to 68.3 percent in the second quarter of this year.

In the second quarter this year, employment rose by 0.3 percentage points in the euro area to 67.2 percent compared to the previous quarter. The highest quarter-on-quarter increases were observed in Lithuania with 0.8 percentage point growth to 72 percent, in Estonia with a 0.7 percentage point increase to 74.6 percent, in Spain with a 0.7 percentage point rise to 62.4 percent.

In the given quarter, the employment rate fell by 0.1 percentage point in Canada to 73.6 percent, by 0.3 percentage point in Belgium to 63.8 percent, by 0.5 percentage point in Luxembourg to 66.5 percent, by 0.6 percentage point in Turkey to 51.8 percent and by 0.8 percentage point in Iceland to 84.2 percent, while it remained unchanged in the United Kingdom at 74.7 percent, all quarter on quarter basis.
