Japanese steelmaker Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) has announced that its hot dip galvanized steel sheet mill in Thailand started commercial production on October 1.

The new facility is capable of producing high-grade, high-quality hot dip galvanized and galvannealed steel sheets, including automotive outer panels and high-strength steels, with an annual production capacity of 360,000 mt. The total investment in the facility amounted to approximately $300 million.

NSSMC stated that, through its Thai subsidiary Nippon Steel & Sumikin Galvanizing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. established in June 2011 for the manufacture and sale of hot dip galvanized and galvannealed steel sheets, it aims to continue precisely responding to customer needs for high grade automotive sheet steels for auto makers in Thailand and other locations.
