Australia-based miner Northern Iron has announced that it has sent a trial cargo to ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe, consisting of approximately 80,000 mt of iron ore concentrate from its Sydvaranger mine in Norway, for ThyssenKrupp's own sintering operations and for consumption at Hüttenwerke Krupp Mannesmann in Germany.

Northern Iron said that, if the trial shipment proves a success, the company is aiming to start discussions with ThyssenKrupp Steel Europe to reach a long-term iron ore offtake deal.
