Russian steelmaker NLMK Group has announced that the pelletizing plant of its iron ore subsidiary Stoilensky has produced its six millionth metric ton of pellets, achieving its design capacity. Launched in November 2016, the pelletizing plant supplies over 500,000 mt of 64.8 percent Fe pellets (in line with the project parameters) to NLMK’s Lipetsk site every month.

Sergey Napolskikh, Stoilensky’s general director, stated that in the current year the company plans to produce 6.4 million mt of pellets and it also plans a further 20 percent expansion of this capacity.

NLMK stated that the launch of the plant, which is of strategic importance for the company, has enabled it to consolidate its position as one of the most efficient steelmakers in the world by supplying its blast furnaces with low-cost captive raw materials.
