NLMK restarts operations at BF No. 3

The Russian steelmaker Novolipetsk Steel (NLMK) has announced the recommissioning of its blast furnace (BF) No. 3 at its main production site in Lipetsk.

NLMK's BF No. 3, which has an annual capacity of 1.3 millon mt of pig iron, was shutdown for maintenance works in October 2008. The 100-day overhaul, which cost $3.5 million to carry out, included the complete replacement of the refractory and refrigerators and the partial replacement of the furnace shell.
