A new long steel product mini-mill was commissioned on September 28 in the city of Zhanatas, Kazakhstan, by Zhanatas Metallurgical Works, with investments amounting to Tenge 450 million (more than $3 million) from its own funds.
Accordingly, the new electrometallurgical mini-mill with an annual capacity of 36,000 mt of rolled products will produce rebar and wire rod for construction purposes to satisfy domestic market demand. The new mill will use scrap as raw material.
Initially, the mill was scheduled to be commissioned at the end of December this year, but the project was completed ahead of schedule. The production has already been tested in commissioning mode. In addition, the mill has received quality certificates for products.
