New motor vehicle registrations in Turkey up 40% in July over June

According to the statistics released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in July this year new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 111,849 units, increasing by 40 percent month on month and down 10.1 percent year on year.

New passenger car registrations in July totaled 56,577 units, increasing by 48.2 percent as compared to the previous month and down 6.2 percent year on year. Passenger cars accounted for 50.6 percent of total registrations. Small truck registrations in July, on the other hand, increased by 66.3 percent month on month and were down 20.2 percent year on year, amounting to 20,733 units. Small truck registrations constituted 18.5 percent of total registrations.

In the first seven months of 2012, new motor vehicle registrations in Turkey amounted to 642,765 units, with a 15.2 percent decrease compared to the same period in 2011.
