Mobarakeh Steel Company's production of cold rolled flat will exceed domestic demand in the next few months. Mobarakeh Steel will reach its recently increased capacity of cold rolled flat (1.7 million tons) within the next 3-4 months, while domestic demand in Iran stands at something about 1.3 million tons. Even before this new development, Iran imported cold rolled flats traditionally from the CIS, China, India etc. due to their lower prices, whereas Mobarakeh Steel exported its high quality products to a lot of European & Asian countries. Meanwhile, Mobarakeh Steel recently announced a new project for the production of special sheets for auto bodies (MB), with this MB sheet production expected to start up in 2007. Mobarakeh Steel Company is the largest steel plant in the Middle East, producing 4.2 million tons of flat products during the last Iranian business year (21.03.2005 - 21.03.2006).
