New blast furnace by Chinese Chuanwei

According to latest industry reports, Sichuan's Chuanwei Iron and Steel Group is going to invest in the Liangshan Steel's new blast furnace project, which is scheduled to be commissioned by end 2004. The investment is projected to be in the amount of RMB 3 billion (approx. $363.3 million). With the addition of the the new blast of 1.5 million ton capacity, the group will achieve a 2 million tons annual capacity of steel production, covering the products of debar, wire and hot rolled steel sheet.
