In July this year, China’s wire rod production amounted to 13.837 million mt, down by 2.6 percent or 374,000 mt compared to June, as announced by China’s National Bureau of Statistics (NBS). This decrease was a reflection of the overall crude steel production decline in China last month due to tighter restrictions and overall lower demand in the country.
Nevertheless, in July the wire rod output was still up 6.8 percent year on year. In the January-July period of the current year, China produced 91.234 million mt of wire rod, rising by 12.9 percent year on year. This growth rate slowed from 14.6 percent registered in the first six months of the year.
