Morocco's Ministry of Industry, Trade and New Technologies has announced that it has initiated a review for the safeguard measures imposed on rebar and wire rod imports, which will end on December 31 this year.

The review was launched following a petition lodged by Moroccan metallurgy association (Association des Siderurgistes du Maroc) requesting the extension of the safeguard measures on rebar and wire rod imports.

The existing safeguard measures are composed of an additional duty of MAD 0.55/kg ($0.06/kg) with quotas of 146,410 mt for wire rod and 87,846 mt for rebar for the current year.

The products in subject currently fall under Customs Tariff Statistics Position Numbers 7213.91.90.00, 7214.20.90.00 and 7214.99.91.00.
