Iranian steelmaker Mobarakeh Steel's managing director and chairman of the BoD, Mr. Mohammad Rajai, has announced that during the past Iranian year 1385 (ended March 20, 2007) the company was able to achieve its production target set for the year, producing 4.35 million metric tons of finished steel products. Moreover, during the past Iranian year Mobarakeh Steel surpassed its annual production capacity of 4.2 million metric tons of finished steel by 150,000 metric tons.
Mr. Rajai went on to add that during the period in question, the company increased its pellets production by 13 percent, its direct reduced iron output by 17.7 percent, its steel making and permanent casting by 12.22 percent, its hot rolled output by 15.24 percent and its cold rolled output by 37.33 percent year on year.
In addition, during the past Iranian year, Mobarakeh Steel accounted for a 46 percent share of the domestic Iranian market and for a 53 percent share of Iranian steel exports.
For the company's future plans, Mr. Rajai specified that Mobarakeh Steel is planning to increase its production capacity to nine million metric tons through the realization of its development program. He also added that some of Mobarakeh Steel's shares would be traded on the foreign stock exchanges in the future.
