Morteza Talaei, operations director of Iran's largest flat steel producer Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC), has announced that during the first nine months of the current Iranian year (21.03.2007-20.12.2007) the mill registered a substantial increase in its production.
In particular, during the period in question, MSC's pelletizing plant registered a seven percent increase in pellet production to 4.76 million mt, while its DRI unit saw a 12 percent increase in sponge iron production to 3.86 million mt.
Meanwhile, MSC's semi-finished steel division registered a one percent year on year increase in slab production to 3.27 million mt during the first nine months of the current Iranian year, despite operating only three out of six EAFs for the last three months.
Mr. Talaei also declared that during period in question MSC's Saba Compact Strip Plant increased its HRC production by 92 percent year on year to 369,677 mt, regardless of the gas consumption restrictions imposed on the mill.
As for the various finished steel product categories, Mr. Talaei specified that during the period in question, MSC raised its overall HRC output by 2.5 percent to 3.43 million mt; meanwhile, the producer's continuous tandem mill saw a 29 percent growth in its CRC output to 736,626 mt, while its two-stand rolling mills registered a nine percent increase to 170,807 mt of CRC. In addition, MSC's galvanizing line output saw a 10 percent increase to 146,197 mt, while the output of its color coated line surged 50 percent to 53,491 mt.
