MMK to up steel production in 2008

Mr. Viktor Rashnikov, chairman of the BoD of the Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), has announced his company's production plans for 2008.

According to Mr. Rashnikov, in 2008 MMK plans to increase its crude steel output to 14.1 million mts (including 10.3 million mts of converter steel and 3.25 million mts of EAF steel), and also aims to up its finished steel output to 13 million mts.

In addition, in 2008 MMK is planning to complete the construction of a new HDG line, to reconstruct its hot rolling mill 2000, to continue the construction works at its plate mill 5000 project, and also to start the construction of a new cold rolling mill 2000.
