MMK Metalurji to restart operations at its HR flat steel plant in H2

Turkey-based subsidiary MMK Metalurji, a subsidiary of Russian steel giant Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK), plans to restart operations at its hot rolled (HR) flat steel plant in Iskenderun, Turkey, in the second half of this year, according to Turkish daily Dunya. The plant was idled in 2012.

Accordingly, in the current year MMK Metalurji plans to increase its sales volume by eight percent year on year to one million mt and increase its steel export volume to 240,000 mt. The company also anticipates a turnover of $750 million for this year.

Denis Kvasov, CEO of MMK Metalurji, stated that the company currently exports steel products to 45 countries, including the US, Spain, Iraq, Bulgaria, Italy, the UK, Romania, Greece and Israel.
