The Russian steel mill Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it has mastered the production of new hot dip galvanized high strength sheet of steel grade 350, under standard GOST R 52246-2004, of 0.7-2.0 mm thickness and 1,000-1,250 mm width.

The new high strength rolled steel product is widely used in the construction industry, as it allows the reduction of the thickness of steel used in production while at the same time maintaining the strength of structures.

In 2008, MMK delivered more than 370,000 mt of steel products to companies which manufacture products for the construction industry, a volume which equals six percent of all its deliveries to the domestic market.

Currently, MMK's coating shop is working on developing the production of rolled steel sheet of grade 350 and of 0.7 mm thickness and 1,500 mm width.
