Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it shipped 181,070 mt of long steel products to consumers in May, which is a record figure for its monthly shipments of long products since the launch of the existing units of its longs shop.

MMK said that the previous record figure was 172,000 mt of long product shipments, which was reached in July 2015. Currently, the company is working at full rolling capacity.

Last year, MMK produced about 1.8 million mt of long products, with 98 percent of all sales accounted for by the Russian market and CIS countries. Focusing on an increase in profits, MMK stated that it is systematically reducing the share of ordinary assorted products and increasing the share of long products with higher margins, which already account for about 30 percent of sales.
