Irvine, California-based MMFX Steel Corporation announced Wednesday that it has introduced its uncoated corrosion-resistant and high-strength reinforcing steel, MMFX2, into Chile, as its first entry into the South American markets. MMFX also said that is working with Broom Group S.A. to expand sales of its advanced MMFX2 reinforcing steel products into the region.

"MMFX introduced its MMFX2 reinforcing steel in Chile at CORROMIN--a conference of industry leaders focused on solutions to address steel corrosion. Corrosion is a significant problem in Chile, given the country's expansive coastal marine environment. Additionally, the Chilean mining industry, which is the second-largest industry in Chile, is actively searching for technologies like MMFX2 reinforcing steel to help resolve the industry's unique corrosion challenges," MMFX said in a statement.
