Mittal Steel Temirtau held its 3rd Customer Meet on 8-9 September 2006 in Temirtau,
Kazakhstan as part of its “Close To The Customer”marketing and sales policy.
In the opening address of the customer gathering, it was stated that with the merger of Mittal Steel and Arcelor, a steel giant had been created which meant that Mittal Steel now accounted for 10 percent of the global steel market with its total
production capacity of 120,000 million tons. Sales Director P. Kumar told the participants that in the aftermath of the merger, the main target of Mittal-Arcelor was to stabilize prices.
Among those in attendance were customers from
China,
Russia, South
Korea,
Iran and
Europe as well as representatives of various
trading companies. In addition, many people from Mittal Steel also attended.
Those present at the meet witnessed that the factory, acquired by Mittal Steel in 1995, had been expanded enormously through a continuous program. In Mittal's development to date of the Temirtau facilities, a Stability Program was implemented in 1996-1999 as the first phase of a three-phase program. Then, another program entitled Growth was implemented successfully in 2000-2003 as the second phase. Finally, in the third phase “Development Program” which commenced in 2004, the company is targeting to increase goods quality, new goods
production and also more effective relations with end-users.
$1.277 million has been invested in the factory since 1995. A steel bar plant worth $48 million with an annual capacity of 400,000 ton is to be opened finally in an effort to meet the supply of
Kazakhstan's continuously growing
construction sector. The plant will commence operation in December 2006.
Taking into consideration the growth sectors in the world such as oil, gas and
automotive, development is being considered in spiral welded
pipe, color
coated line, cut-to-length
pipe (in the first quarter of 2007) and thin.
A factory excursion was organized on the second day of the customer meeting. The guests were able to see the
slab, cold rolled,
galvanized, color
coated lines and the thin
production plants of Mittal Steel Temirtau. In addition, general information was imparted by Mittal Steel Temirtau technical department officials, who were attentive in answering all customer questions relating to technical and
production issues.
The positive ambiance at the meeting confirms that Mittal Steel Temirtau is very serious and determined in its “Development Program” which it commenced in 2004.
