Mittal Steel South Africa said today that its large furnace, which failed three weeks ago, has restarted operation partially and overall production had not been affected. Mittal Steel South Africa's spokesman Tami Didiza said “The furnace was back in production and the outage had no major impact on steel supplies as the furnace's production was shifted to other furnaces in the plant”. Mittal Steel South Africa is the dominant supplier of flat steel products in South Africa.
