Mittal Steel Poland expresses interest in JSW

Mittal Steel Poland expressed its interest in buying a stake in Jastrzebska Spolka Weglowa (JSW), one of Poland's major coking coal supplier and also a major supplier to Mittal Steel Poland. A spokesman for Mittal Steel indicated that the company would be interested in buying a stake in JSW if an open privatization takes place. As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the Polish government announced plans to prevent Mittal from acquiring a large stake in JSW due to competition concerns.
