Mittal Steel confirms interest in Baotou

Rotterdam based Mittal Steel Company confirms that the company is in talks with Chinese Baotou Iron and Steel Group Co (Baotou Steel) to acquire some stake from the company. However, the company has not commented on any possible outcome of its interest. Rumours say that Mittal Steel is interested in acquiring 49 percent of Baotou Steel. Chinese regulations ban foreign companies from taking over controlling stakes from Chinese companies.
