The iron ore subsidiaries of the Ukrainian mining and steel producing company Metinvest Holding (Metinvest) have issued their production results for the first two months of 2010.
Accordingly, in January-February 2010, Metinvest's iron ore subsidiary Central GOK (CGOK) increased its concentrate output by 45.1 percent to 901,700 mt and upped its pellets production by 4.2 percent to 390,300 mt, both compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, in February 2010, CGOK produced 400,000 mt of concentrate - down 20.3 percent, and 184,300 mt of pellets - down 10.3 percent, both compared to January 2010.
During the period in question, Severniy GOK (SevGOK) produced about 2.304 million mt of concentrate - up 20.2 percent year on year, and 1.695 million mt of pellets - up 33 percent year on year. In February this year, SevGOK saw a 16.56 percent decrease in its concentrate production and a 10.3 percent drop in its pellets output, both compared to January 2010, to 1.048 million mt and 801,700 mt respectively.
Meanwhile, during the first two months of 2010, Metinvest's Inguletskiy GOK (InGOK) registered a 66.9 percent increase year on year in its concentrate production to about 2.414 million mt. In February 2010, InGOK produced 1.148 million mt of concentrate - down 9.3 percent month on month.
