The iron ore subsidiaries of the Ukrainian mining and steel producing company Metinvest Holding (Metinvest) have issued their production results for the first five months of 2010.
Accordingly, in January-May this year, Metinvest's iron ore subsidiary Central GOK (CGOK) increased its concentrate output by 43.8 percent to about 2.492 million mt, and saw an insignificant drop in its pellets production by 0.1 percent to 893,300 mt, both compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, in May this year, CGOK produced 555,000 mt of concentrate - up 8.2 percent, and 205,500 mt of pellets - up 35.2 percent, both compared to April.
During the first five months of the current year, Severniy GOK (SevGOK) produced 6.094 million mt of concentrate - up 18 percent year on year, and 4.407 million mt of pellets - up 40.1 percent year on year. In May this year, SevGOK saw a 1.8 percent increase in its concentrate production to about 1.27 million mt compared to April, while its pellets output stayed almost at the level of the previous month, amounting to 919,400 mt.
Meanwhile, in January-May this year, Metinvest's Inguletskiy GOK (InGOK) registered a 73.5 percent increase year on year in its concentrate production to 6.366 million mt. In May, InGOK produced about 1.379 million mt of concentrate - up 4.3 percent month on month.
