Metinvest firms resume production after gas supply returns to normal

Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that gas supply to its subsidiaries Azovstal and Ilyich Iron and Steel Works of Mariupol resumed in full on Monday, June 15 at 1.30 a.m.

Azovstal relaunched its blast oxygen furnace, lime kiln and rolling shops. Its ball rolling and large section mills were the first to restart operations. The heavy plate mill will resume production on June 16 at 4 p.m. Blast furnaces Nos. 3 and 5 are in operation, while blast furnaces Nos. 2 and 6 will be relaunched later today, June 15, and will depend upon the availability of sinter.

Metinvest also said that Ilyich Iron & Steel Works of Mariupol relaunched its blast furnaces Nos. 2, 3 and 4, its sinter plant and pipe welding shop. The plate rolling 1,700 and 3,000 mills and the cold rolling shop will resume working on June 17.
