Metinvest considers raw material imports

The Ukrainian steel producer Metinvest Holding has announced that it is looking into the possibility of importing raw materials due to the economic advantages involved.

Commenting on the issue, director of Metinvest's crude steel and finished steel division, Mr. Igor Korit'ko, remarked that Metinvest currently imports sintering ore from Russia.

In the first half of 2007, Metinvest imported 226,000 metric tons of sintering ore from Russia - down 22 percent year on year.
