The Russian steel and iron ore producer Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest) has announced that its subsidiary Mikhailovsky Mining and Processing plant (Mikhailovsky GOK) has won the Russian Government Award in Science and Technology for development and implementation of its high-tech large-scale iron ore production project in Russia and for the introduction of innovative technologies in the iron ore full-scale production process including all stages from mining to processing.
Accordingly, unique and highly efficient innovative projects, successfully implemented at Mikhailovsky GOK, include: technology of dry magnetic separation for lean ore that enabled an increase in iron ore concentrate production by two million mt per year, unique ‘Granulomer' ore milling control system, technology for additional dressing through flotation for magnetite concentrate and production of high quality iron ore concentrate.
Mikhailovsky GOK's flotation plant produced hematite concentrate from wastes of the skimping separation process, the first plant in Russia to do so. New technology allows the plant to increase output without boosting ore extraction volumes, to cut costs and decrease environmental impact.
