Mechel’s net loss narrows down in H1

Russian mining and steel group Mechel has announced its consolidated financial results for the first half of the current year. In the first half, Mechel saw a net loss of $225.28 million compared to a net loss of $646.06 million in the first half of 2014. In the first half this year, Mechel's sales revenues decreased by 33.8 percent year on year to $2.27 billion. In the same period, the company's operating income increased from the $15.15 million registered in the same period of 2014 to $238 million.

The revenue of Mechel's mining segment from external customers in the first half of the current year totaled $753 million, down 32 percent, while its steel segment's revenue from external customers in the same period amounted to $1.28 billion, down 34 percent, both compared to the corresponding period of 2014.
