Mechel’s Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant ups steel shipments by 11 percent in Jan-Oct

Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant, a subsidiary of the Russian mining and steel producing group Mechel, has increased its January-October steel product shipments by 11.1 percent year on year to about 3.7 million mt.

In the first 10 months of this year, Chelyabinsk Metallurgical Plant's shipments to the Russian domestic market amounted to approximately 2.9 million mt of steel products, including about 1.3 million mt of high quality billets, about 1.1 million mt of construction products, 297,000 mt of flats, 156,000 mt of machine-building products, and 42,000 mt of stainless steel products.

During the period in question, the plant's deliveries to the domestic market reached 81 percent of its total shipments - up 26 percentage points year on year, which was possible due to the implementation of investment projects.
